Surname Change

According to Chilean legislation, when a child receives Chilean citizenship, they are given two surnames: the first one from the father and the second one from the mother. The surnames from the birth certificate are fully transferred to the baby’s passport.

Parents have the right to change the endings of surnames according to national spelling peculiarities. For example, adding the letter “A” for a girl or removing the letter “A” for a boy. We also provide comprehensive support for this procedure.
